For Kathy Mattea, the influence of Appalachian culture from her native West Virginia, represents an essential piece of her musical education and heritage, rooted deeply in family and traditions. Over the years, Kathy has gathered songs and stories of bravery, pride and grief, rich in lore and history representing what she calls her place and her people. Long known as an impeccable songcatcher, with hits such as "Where've You Been?," "455 Rocket" and the iconic "Eighteen Wheels and a Dozen Roses," Kathy's 17 albums are woven through with bluegrass, gospel, and Celtic influences, and have garnered multiple CMA, ACM and Grammy awards.
